Ruurd Stolp, D.V.M., Ph.D., is senior vice president and president,
Global Animal Health, for Schering-Plough Corporation.
Stolp was named to his position at Schering-Plough in November 2007.
He is responsible for overseeing the company's worldwide animal health
business, which includes a range of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, growth
promotants, anti-infectives and anti-parasiticides for food-producing
and companion animals.
Previously, Stolp was president of Intervet International, a position
he held since 2002. From 1996 to 2002, he was responsible for the global
manufacturing organization. Also while at Intervet, Stolp was based
in the U.S. for a time, during which he was vice president, Technical
Affairs. Before joining Intervet in 1987, Stolp worked during 4 years
at a veterinary hospital in the Netherlands.
Stolp graduated from the University of Utrecht in 1980 with a veterinary
degree. He specialized in Companion Animal Internal Medicine and completed
his Ph.D. degree in 1985 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, also
at Utrecht University.
