Health Education Community Initiatives

Schering-Plough supports educational programs that advance the quality of teaching and education with a focus on urban areas and underserved communities. The company supports institutions and organizations that award academic scholarships to promising high school and college students who demonstrate financial need.

Schering-Plough funds educational programs that encourage young, talented people to pursue careers in research, science, and medicine and that promote diversity in science education and the increase of minority representation in the pharmaceutical and health care industries.

Our Priorities in Education:

• Economically disadvantaged students and students who are members of minority groups pursuing careers in research, science and medicine

• Programs that advance the quality of teaching and education in urban areas and in underserved communities

• Academic scholarships for promising high school and college students who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing careers in research, science and medicine

• Mentoring programs for both students and teachers in science education to enhance the quality of science education

• Programs that promote diversity in science and science-related professions

• Initiatives that offer students state-of-the-art equipment and science laboratories

Hundreds of Schering-Plough U.S. colleagues volunteered as part of the 2007 Community Projects Day. Colleagues rolled up their sleeves to paint rooms, renovate landscaping, entertain the elderly, deliver meals to the homebound, sort clothing and food donations, read to young children and many other tasks.
