Our Corporate
Giving Mission
As a global science-based health care company,
Schering-Plough is committed to building healthy and strong communities.
This is demonstrated in the company’s philanthropic initiatives,
public/private partnerships, and employee volunteerism. Schering-Plough
provides funding for innovative health care initiatives, education
partnerships and projects, and community outreach programs that
enhance the quality of life in the communities that the company
serves locally and globally.
Political Contributions
A democratic society can survive only if its people are
participants in their government. The Schering Plough Better Government
Fund is part of the company's commitment to that belief. It is important
for all of us to be educated and active in our political process
and to the idea that providing financial support to capable, responsible
candidates is one of the best ways for employees to help create
a better business climate for bringing medicines to patients who
need them. Information about political contributions made by our
employees through the Fund or by the Company directly can be accessed
by clicking here: 2007 Year-End Political Contributions Report,
2007 Mid-Year Political Contributions Report,
2006 Second-Half Report,
2006 First-Half Report,
2005
Report. Company contributions are made pursuant to policies
established by senior management and in accordance with applicable
laws. Senior management discusses political and public policy issues
that impact Schering-Plough with the Board of Directors on a regular
basis.
Charitable Contributions
Through Schering-Plough philanthropy, we provide a variety of contributions,
in-kind participation and other support in the areas of health and
education. This support reflects certain areas of the company’s
expertise, including allergic and respiratory disorders; infectious
diseases and inflammation; cancer; and cardiovascular disease. Our
funding and contributions program also provides support to local
initiatives in the areas of culture and the arts, increasing opportunities
for women and minorities, social/civic welfare and public policy.
