Schering-Plough is committed
to improving the health and well-being of people throughout the
world. In fulfilling that commitment, we are developing new treatments
and programs that assist patients in achieving their best possible
therapeutic outcomes. We are also working with public and private
organizations to improve access to prescription medications around
the world. In the United States, an important part of these efforts
involves our patient assistance programs and patient support programs.
Schering-Plough provides lifesaving drugs at no cost through our
patient assistance programs to people with low incomes who do not
have prescription drug coverage.
Informal patient assistance programs have been in place at Schering-Plough
since the early 1980s. Today, patients can apply for assistance
through two programs: Commitment
to Care, which covers our cancer and hepatitis drugs; and SP-Cares,
which includes our other prescription drugs. In 2007, these programs provided more than 60,000 patients with over $100 million worth of free Schering-Plough products.
Through the Schering-Plough
Foundation and the Schering-Plough
Charitable Contributions Program we are dedicated to working
with the citizens of our communities to help them realize their
full potential and enhance their quality of life. We strive to be
good corporate citizens and to help improve the lives of the people
in the communities where we live and work.
Schering-Plough also has a sound compliance program in place. Our
internal compliance program is referred to as the “Leading
with Integrity” Compliance Program and is one of the key components
that help the company achieve its vision to “earn trust, every
day.” Schering-Plough is in full compliance with the California
Drug Marketing Practices Statute effective July 1, 2005.

Hundreds of Schering-Plough U.S. colleagues volunteered as part of the 2007 Community Projects Day. Colleagues rolled up their sleeves to paint rooms, renovate landscaping, entertain the elderly, deliver meals to the homebound, sort clothing and food donations, read to young children and many other tasks.
