The Milan research facility has its roots in Comazzo, Italy, where it was established in 1976 to support the local Schering-Plough business unit. Twenty years later, the research group became part of SPRI and was moved into new laboratory space in the San Raffaele Biomedical Science Park in Milan.
Today, the Milan research facility is fully integrated into SPRI's Discovery group and is part of the Neurobiology Department. Using state-of-the-art technologies for target validation and screening automation, Milan focuses on discovering potential lead molecules for the treatment of chronic pain.
